The genre of this image is landscape. The subject matter is the natural landscape and the colour that has been manually put into it. The subject matter is exaggerated as the colour has been placed on a plain landscape so that it stands out. The photographer wants to make us wonder why this has been done in this way. However I think that the photographer chose to add a circle of colour to show the focus point of the image, the circle is the first thing people notice when looking at the image.
The image has been taken in winter so that the image would be very plain to add the colour into. The framing of this image is landscape and he frames it in its natural form. The image has filled the frame, however Carlo Van De Roer has done it very subtle. The subtleness of the image enhances the colour that he has added into it. In every image you can see that he has just one person in them that is near the coloured circle. The photographer makes use of the less of colour in the image so that he can add colour into it.
The photographer would have taken his images at a location where there would be fewer colours in the image. The images have a misty effect to them so that the colour would be placed over it. Carlo Van De Roer would have then made the image look duller so that he could then add the colour using a simple circle tool and changed the colour to what ever he would like.
The photographer has tried to create a positive atmosphere to a colourless image. However I do like the idea that a circle of colour can change your perspective on an image, without the circle of colour the image wouldn't be as effective. I like the simpleness of the image, which is why it is effective, and this is why I have chosen to use this artist.

My edits & hanging plan.
My idea of adding the coloured circle was for similar purposes but I wanted to make the colour more of a focus in the landscape. I haven't used all the same technique as Carlo Van De Roer as he uses the dull colour in the image to focus the landscape however I wanted the landscape to be more obvious.
My development idea.
For my development idea I will print off the original images and add the coloured circles manually. I could also try to add the coloured circles by removing a circle from the image and place a coloured piece of card behind the image.
My developments & Hanging plan.
I displayed them in this way because I like the idea of the paths being together in the middle and the photo with the sand and mainly trees with a small path separate from the rest.
Second development edits & Hanging plan.
For my next developments I will remove a circle from the image and place the coloured card behind the image.
I displayed them in this way because I think that the images with a path are more effective together and the ones that are different work week together.
Third development edits & Hanging plan.
To also create the coloured effect I came up with the idea to try and mount the image by leaving a small gap between them to create a different effect.
I displayed them in this way with the choice of darker colours at the top and the images with brighter colours at the bottom.
Fourth development edits & Hanging plan.
To develop my idea further I decided to create developments from the previous edits. To develop it I converted the images black and white and just left the coloured circle, this still shows colour in the landscape even though it is on a landscape where the colour has been removed.
I displayed the images with the paths at the bottom because I think they work well together and the other images at the top because they're different to one another,
Fifth Development edits & Hanging plan.
I experimented with the idea of adding a coloured circle into the image by sewing into the image using different coloured thread.
I tried another way to develop the idea of adding the circles, I think that this does work however it is not as effective
Conclusion.
I like the start of this shoot and I like how it has developed over time into something similar but a lot different in a way, I used the technique of the adding the coloured circle, however it developed into removing a circle and adding the colour, I like how the final pieces of this shoot turned out.
